Golan's desire to create wines was born in his childhood, while playing in the experimental vineyards at the University of California Davis, the wine school attended by his father. He started his own career at the HU Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot and obtained a masters degree in Oenology from the University of Piacensa in Milan, Italy.

As part of his course requirements, he worked at the well known Carpineto Winery, which proved to be a fascinating experience that shaped his worldview as a winemaker. He continued his learning experience at the Tintara Winery in Australia with a clear view to learning about the behavior of vines in a hot climate similar to that in Israel.
