Classic at its best16.03.2016
In the past few weeks, and just in time for the spring, we released the new vintages of three of our wines – Flam Blanc & Flam Rose 2015, and the Flam Classico 2014
wines are a reflection of the Judean Hills terroir, since all three wines were created from wine grapes grown in vineyards in the Judean Hills.
The Judean Hills area is making a name for itself as a superior growing region for some varietals. It will be very interesting to see the results of the hard work we invested in the past decade and are investing now, and how the quality develops when the vineyards grow older and stronger.
2014 Vintage – 2014 was a unique and special year. There was very little rainfall in January and February, and in general the winter was quite dry. But late rains in April-May turned it into an excellent year. These rains saturated the soil and very little irrigation was required in the summer. It was a mild summer with no heatwaves in the ripening reason, which resulted in a high quality vintage.
2015 Vintage – 2015 was marked by a winter with abundant rain and numerous cold spells that contributed to the simultaneous awakening of the vines in the budding season. The spring and summer seasons were the most moderate enjoyed by the vineyards in the past few years, but towards the end of July they were assailed by several extreme heat waves. Fortunately, most of the white varieties were harvested prior to this period and so their freshness and crispness were preserved. The result was white wines with good, balanced acidity and a refreshing floral nose.
